Central American Biking Challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support

Our two Directors, Amanda & Richard have successfully completed the challenge and are delighted to be back in civilization. Cycling from Panama, through Costa Rica and into Nicaragua in 8 days was the toughest physical thing that they have ever done. In their words……
It was certainly not a jolly as the trip resulted in a fair amount of personal discomfort. Seven hours in the saddle each day had some very obvious outcomes but when coupled with a general lack of sanitation and only 2 showers in eight days it was quite a shock to the system! With temperatures up to 41 degrees it did require a great effort to cycle through the 3 countries. Many a time we said 'why on earth did we agree to this?'. And we were definitely very keen to burn all of our newly acquired camping equipment as soon as we got home. However, it is apparently a bit like childbirth - whilst you are in the thick of it you say never ever again but once it's all over all you can think about are the positives.
This is the most rewarding thing we have ever done and at the last night celebration dinner, our Macmillan Trip Leader told us that the group of 51 cyclists had raised just under £170,000 which is enough to fund 4 Macmillan nurses or 1 palliative suite at a hospital for a year - everyone was so proud. In the next breath she said that in the 12 days that we had been away from home, 6,000 more people in the UK had been diagnosed with cancer. It is then that you realise how much more there is to do.
Despite all the trials and tribulations we had an amazing time, met some brilliant people, laughed more than we ever had, slept and washed less than we ever thought possible, ate more rice and beans than is natural......yet we would do it again and we would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. If nothing else you really do count your blessings.
Peach Retain REC Audited Status

In 2005 Peach achieved REC Audited status which is an industry specific award.
At the end of last year, in order to retain this status, Peach underwent another vigorous re-audit to ensure that their standards continued to meet the stipulated criteria and this was completed successfully.
