Interview tips Dress to impress. In days gone by it was a given that you would wear a power suit and be as neat as a pin, those days are long gone, but not totally! Depending on the company and their culture and the role will all depend on what would be classed in this situation as …..dressing to impress! Take advice from your consultant Be totally familiar with the type of company and the culture of the company you are going to interview with Buzzing, ringing, tinkling, vibrating, chimes or random noises coming from your bag or pocket, is distracting and just simply unprofessional, so please make sure your phone is off. Arrive on time, always give yourself 5 – 10 minutes to settle down in reception, grab some water and compose yourself. Allow enough time for the actual interview to take place, worrying about getting to another appointment or back to your job is a surefire way of looking distracted and not being focused on the interview at hand. Body language is cruicial….. a weak & feeble handshake is most interviewers pet hate, it shows a lack of confidence and assertiveness…ever heard the saying a ‘wet fish’? Good eye contact DON’T fidget DON’T be distracted by others Talk to ALL the people interviewing you Prepare & research the company. Understand their goals and purpose. Be passionate about wanting to work for them! Oh, and if you like what you see and hear on the interview, make sure you don’t leave without them knowing you are interested and keen.
